Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the privilege of speaking at clinical trial conferences in Sweden and Philadelphia. Each time I stand on a stage in front of researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders, I’m reminded why sharing my story matters so deeply to me.
For most of the people in those rooms, clinical trials are their everyday work – protocols, data, deadlines, regulatory pressures. For me, clinical trials are the reason I’m still here. They’re the reason I get to wake up each day, plan for a future, and continue building a life I once wasn’t sure I’d get to live.
Being able to speak directly to the people who contributed to that possibility feels like my way of giving back. It’s my chance to say thank you – not just for the science, but for the humanity behind it. And every time someone tells me, after decades in the field, that hearing my story reminded them why their work matters… it overwhelms me in the best possible way.
Those moments stay with me. They motivate me. They make me want to keep telling my story to as many people, in as many places, as I can. Because if my experience can help even one person reconnect with their purpose, or spark a change that improves someone else’s treatment journey, then all of this is more than worth it.
I’m grateful, I’m humbled, and I’m excited to keep sharing my story as much as I can.
