On the recent European Seal tour the horn section secured sponsorship from John Packer and I got to road test the fabulous brand new JP231 Rath tenor trombone.
Subsequently I have written many reviews for various publications:
BRASS HERALD issue 30: “When I heard that John Packer Ltd had claimed to have come up with a ‘Rath’ trombone possessing a ‘professional playing capability at a student price’, I was intrigued to say the least. The John Packer 231 Rath trombone has been a collaborative effort with the tremendous expertise of Mick Rath himself….
…Whilst on Seal’s UK and European tour I was able to take the trombone aside and try some additional classical excerpts and various other exercises and it performed well throughout the range. I would highly recommend this instrument to trombonists who are looking for a smaller bore, for use in a Mozart Requiem or similar, or for some light playing….
…Overall, this is an astonishingly good trombone for student and professional alike, and at just £299 (plus VAT) it certainly is unrivalled within its price range.”
